This is the 8th year that I’ve signed up. Although our team for ColoradoPlays isn’t all that large, we still love participating. And we plan on doing much more for Extra Life in 2021.
This is the comeback year for the world! After the dumpster fire that was 2020, the bar is set pretty low. But for some reason, I just have this extremely good feeling for the near future.
I just hope it isn’t the calm before the storm.
What Are the Plans for Extra Life in 2021?
Every year I make plans for what I want us to do. And every year, we fall short. But this time around, it’s much different.
This time, I am actually pushing hard to make something of ColoradoPlays. I started a snowball rolling down the hill back in November of 2020, and it’s done nothing but gain momentum.
In other words, this is going to be a banner year for us. And the more successful we are, the more we can contribute to Extra Life in 2021.
Maintaining an Actual Streaming Schedule
One of our biggest failings of the past was never really having an actual streaming schedule. Sure, we said we’d be on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. But then life would interfere or we’d get lazy.
It’s kind of difficult to build an audience with that kind of a plan in place.
This year, we’re keeping the schedule but actually committing to streaming. And we’ll also be toying with doing more live play on YouTube, which is something we really haven’t done much of last year.
For the most part, we’ll probably do some multistreaming to Twitch and YouTube to expand the audience. The last test run worked fairly well, considering everyone in the house was streaming to their own channels at the same time.
Getting More Content on the Website
Next up, and it’s one I say every year, we’re getting more content up on the website. Last year, we only published 50 total posts. Though, I did spend a lot of time trying to fix broken images after the move from Hostgator.
The tentative plan is to publish at least three articles per week. The more people find our content, the more likely we’ll be able to send money to Extra Life in 2021.
And although most of the popular articles on this blog are “how-tos,” we still want to expand into more reviews, strategies, playing around in Colorado, and more.
In fact, we have some awesome plans set up for Halloween this year. I don’t want to go into too much detail and jinx it, but, it’ll be pretty freakin’ awesome.
Getting More YouTube Videos Uploaded
Because things went a bit awry last year, we weren’t able to get as many videos up on YouTube as we would have liked. But, we ironed out the kinks and have a decent plan set up for at least getting some videos on a regular schedule.
Lately, we’ve been having a lot of fun running through EverQuest 2.
This year, we’re going to get the YouTube channel stabilized with a regular feed. If I can start getting the channel to bring in some money, it’ll go a long way to helping Extra Life in 2021.
The downside is that a large portion of the gameplay might just be from me alone.
Everyone is on such a wonky schedule that it’s difficult for us to find the time to record. However, we’re still working on the logistics and are serious about turning the channel into something fun.
Live Streaming in November
Every year, we contribute to the 24-hour gaming event in November for Extra Life. Again, because our schedules are so bizarre, it’s unlikely we’ll do 24 hours straight.
Normally, we break it up and go live for 12 hours on Saturday and 12 hours on Sunday. In 2020, it was even more hectic as some of us had to work in between the live stream.
I’m not sure what it’s going to look like this year, though. It could still be hectic.
But, I put the countdown timer to Extra Life 2021 on the sidebar of the website. It might change depending on when we actually go live. But if you want to watch the live stream, you can do so from either our Twitch channel or from the Extra Life team page for ColoradoPlays.
Getting More Active in the Community (COVID Pending)
One of the goals for last year was to be more active in our local community for Extra Life. Unfortunately, world pandemics kind of tossed a monkey wrench into the works.
Hopefully, we’ll get everything back on track in the next few months. We would really love to interact with others who participate with Extra Life in 2021.
Part of ColoradoPlays is showing how we play in Colorado. And everything we wanted to do was put on the backburner in 2020.
So, let’s cross our fingers that we can actually go out in public and have some fun this year.
We’re Serious This Time, Honest!
We have a lot of plans for Extra Life during 2021. Now, we just need to make sure we can commit. But speaking from personal experience, I’m pretty sure that this is going to be our best year yet.
We’re motivated, focused, and ready to keep the momentum going.
