H1Z1 Just Survive Not Entitled Live Play Error

Last Updated on January 2, 2018 by Michael Brockbank

Recently, I came across a peculiar error after H1Z1 and Just Survive updated from Steam. When I tried to log in, I received an error message stating “Not Entitled” under Live Play. Apparently, this is a common enough problem on the Steam forums. However, I had to figure out how to fix this on my own.
After following some of the advice in the forums, I found none of it to be helpful in my case. I even went so far as to submit a ticket to Daybreak Games…which has yet to get a response.

Fixing the NOT ENTITLED Error

Unfortunately, I am unable to show a screen shot of the problem. I didn’t think anything of it at the time and I am unable to break the game on purpose again to take one.

I apologize.

Anyway, this is what happened when I tried to play H1Z1 Just Survive yesterday:

  • I clicked the play button in steam under Just Survive.
  • The H1Z1 launch pad loaded. Which I didn’t think anything of it at the time and thought it was just part of the update.
  • When I logged into my Daybreak profile, I instantly got an error screen: Live Play NOT_ENTITLED.

Out of curiosity, I clicked “H1Z1” from Steam and the launcher loaded without issue and I was able to get into the battle royale game. When I tried to access the Just Survive game, again I was met with the H1Z1 launcher and the “not entitled” error.

Changing Passwords

I read in one of the forums that changing your Daybreak account password and resetting the computer works. Well, I changed the password and still the same problem persisted.

Repeat Attempts to Log In

Another suggestion was to keep trying to log in. Sometimes the servers are full or there is maintenance going on. After checking the server activity at Daybreak, and trying to log in several times throughout the day, I decided this method wasn’t going to work out well for me.

Contacting Customer Support

In the Daybreak forums, one of the moderators suggest I submit a ticket. After logging into my account on Daybreak’s website, I submitted the query regarding everything that was going on. I still haven’t heard anything back, but there could be a delay as everyone might be off for New Years Day.

What Finally Worked For Me

Because I am the type of person who likes to troubleshoot my own issues, I decided to give this one a try.

My first question was, “Why is the H1Z1 launcher loading?” The only reasoning I could come up with was something had overwritten the launcher during the update which forced the wrong launcher to activate while still looking for the correct Just Survive files after logging in…thus giving the “NOT ENTITLED” error.

I was finally successful with an easy fix and was able to play without further interruption…

  1. Uninstall both H1Z1 and Just Survive from the Steam library…including the test servers if you have them.
  2. Reinstall Just Survive.

That was it. I’m not 100% sure what happened and why Just Survive was being overwritten by H1Z1, but I bet it has to do with something getting screwed up during the latest updates.

It’s a simple fix, and I didn’t have to restart my computer afterwards. Unfortunately, it takes a bit of time to download the files again from Steam. However, it’s a much easier method of getting rid of the “NOT ENTITLED” error than some of the other suggestions I came across.

When In Doubt, Reinstall

It’s funny how often a reinstall of software fixes the problem. You’d think developers would put in more effort to ensure people can at least access a buggy game. I guess that’s part of the price you pay when getting into “Early Access” games.

At least I am able to play now, and that’s all that really matters in the long run.
