Launching the Colorado Plays Newsletter…Finally

Last Updated on August 9, 2018 by Michael Brockbank

After spending a great deal of time sifting through a variety of newsletter platforms, I found one that I like. Although I am still tweaking the messages and notification system, it’s ready for subscribers. What does this mean for you?

That depends, really. Not everyone wants to read email when they can just as well read a blog post.

However, our newsletter is going to be a bit different. Instead of merely pulling content right out of this website to fill the email message, it will have subscriber-only content mixed in.[template id=”145″]

Why a Newsletter?

The notification system on the website is nice for keeping people in the loop when new content is created. However, not everyone wants popups on their browsers or smartphones when ever we publish something.

Email is still a valid form of communication for many, and it helps us keep you informed of news, topics and other content related to fun and games in Colorado – whether it’s digital or physical.

And Colorado residents are not the only ones who benefit from this system. Most of the stuff we write about is related to gaming for PCs and other consoles.

We just like to go out and have fun in our favorite state.

The newsletter gives us another channel to explore while building Colorado Plays into something special. It’s the first stage of many that are planned for this website, and subscribing will give you insider information.

How much money does Colorado Plays give charities?

About 30% of any revenue Colorado Plays generates goes immediately to Extra Life. Its the foundation which supports the Children’s Miracle Network including Children’s Hospital.

However, there are times when we donate even more depending on special events. And that’s not including other charities such as Operation Supply Drop, which focuses on supporting our soldiers.

Subscribing to our newsletter helps us in these charity events and causes. It gives us inspiration to keep going while helping as many people as we can.

In fact, the majority of the money all of my blogs make at the moment goes back into improvements. For instance, I was able to buy the SSL and pay for the web hosting recently.

What kind of stuff is going to be in it?

The newsletter is going to contain a variety of information. Weekly highlights, important events not covered in the blog and other subscriber-only content are included.

To top it all off, we’re also toying with the idea of doing giveaways for our subscribers. We’ll probably start small with things like $10 gift certificates to Steam or something along those lines.

The purpose is to keep you engaged. The more visitors ColoradoPlays.com gets, the more money we send to various charities, such as Extra Life.

And that’s one of the primary goals of this website: to help those in need.

You’ll also be apprised of any changes or developments of Colorado Plays as we grow this into something much bigger.

Think of it as being inside the office with us.

I’m also toying with the idea of using surveys. Your voice will actually influence the development of the website. After all, it’s the audience we want to engage.[template id=”505″]

How often will the newsletter be published?

Because I am somewhat limited in time, especially with trying to get everything off the ground, the newsletter is only published on Sundays. It will be kind of like a synopsis of the week as well as what is coming up.

If we get enough subscribers, or if the site does well enough so I can do it full-time, I’ll publish more often.

So no, you don’t have to worry about messages flooding your inbox. Besides, this gives you a nice relaxing Sunday reading about fun gaming news and events while sipping coffee…or your other favorite beverage.

Why should you subscribe to the newsletter?

The newsletter is more than just extra content that comes to you. In reality, there are several reasons why you should subscribe if you haven’t already:

  • Subscriber-Only Content
While some of the newsletter may contain snippets of past articles, it will also deliver content for subscribers only. This means you’ll have information that isn’t available on the website. It’s like a special club you’re invited to join.
  • Get Immediate Updates to Events
In the case of an important event or breaking news, the newsletter will be pushed before an in-depth article is written. This could include any gaming news we stumble across or even events happening here with Colorado Plays.
  • Subscriber-Only Contests and Giveaways
One of the things we’re toying with is the aspect of doing giveaways or contests for our newsletter subscribers. As the site grows more popular, we’ll be able to afford more extravagant goodies to support those who support us.
  • It Helps Colorado Plays
Currently, the only income this site receives is from ad revenue. And these monies are divided among ourselves as well as the charities we support. The more often you read our content, the more money we make for those charity groups.
    • I’m sure as time marches on, we’ll add far more to this list. But hey, the contests and giveaways may be worth the effort on their own.

Who knows, you may even be invited to join us and help drive the development of Colorado Plays and anywhere it may go.

      Will your information remain private?

Colorado Plays does not sell private information to third-parties. If you’re looking for an email list, move on. The information submitted to Colorado Plays is the intellectual property of the site.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as absolute security on the Internet. All we can do is promise not to give out addresses and names while employing what ever security measures we can.

This was initially why I wanted to purchase an SSL for the website before it became a search ranking factor.

Where can you sign up for the newsletter?

You can sign up by using the form below or through the newsletter widget which shows on almost every page of the website. You can easily unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link in your subscriber profile.

Just make sure you read through the newsletter privacy policy before submitting.

      Support Others While Supporting Us

The purpose of the newsletter is to help this site grow while contributing to various charity organizations. It helps you stay informed while giving us someone to reach out to.

Think of it as a way of helping out children, animals, soldiers and vets – because that’s who we support through this website. A subscription can go a long way to helping us reach goals and a wider audience.

If you subscribe, just know that we appreciate your support and will do what we can to make this a fun and engaging experience.
