Signed Up with Extra Life for 2022, Let’s Break Some Records!

Last Updated on January 4, 2022 by Michael Brockbank

Here we are, it’s 2022 and time to set up our Extra Life page and goals. This is the 9th year I’ll be participating in one form or another. And this year, I’m hoping ColoradoPlays can break some very easy records for donations.

Depending on how the year unfolds, we’d like to get out and do more fun stuff with local folk as well. There are quite a few fun things you can do in Denver, and we want to explore them all!

What Makes 2022 Any Different for Our Extra Life Plans?

Recently, I’ve been given a jolt of ambition. Ever since publishing my first book, I’ve been on a roll in terms of motivation. And that sensation is being distributed to everything I manage.

Including ColoradoPlays.

Although this website continues to bring in a bit of money for Extra Life every year, I feel that we can do far more.

A Drive to Succeed

As I said, I am feeling quite empowered at the moment. It’s all part of making 2022 the best year yet in everything I do.

Granted, it’s only the 4th of January. However, I feel that we can do far more than what we’ve been putting out there.

It’s amazing the drive and ambition you feel once you accomplish a life-long dream. You get the feeling that you can do anything and will put in the effort to make those things happen.

Doing More with the Website and YouTube Channel

I know I’ve threatened to do more with the blog and YouTube channel in the past. This time, though, I believe I’m actually ready to take ColoradoPlays to a whole new level.

In fact, I am working on getting us a warehouse space so we can set up streaming and video production. I’ve also been working on a lot of different content strategies and plans to make ColoradoPlays something awesome.

Of course, every minute I put towards this project only works to benefit Extra Life in 2022. That’s because ColoradoPlays donates 30% of any revenue we make directly to Extra Life throughout the year.

This includes the blog, YouTube channel, Twitch channel, and the merch we are planning to set up.

At any rate, the goal is to surpass content production this year than we had in 2021, which really isn’t difficult to surpass.

Doing More with Twitch?

We stopped streaming on Twitch because we kept losing viewers to hot tub streamers. Namely, Amouranth. Not to mention that Twitch doesn’t do very much to help the smaller streamers gain notoriety amongst the more popular players.

We might go back to streaming on Twitch as well as YouTube in the near future. Right now, we’re just trying to figure out the logistics of it all.

Keep in mind that we all have full-time jobs, and most of us work schedules opposite of one another. So, getting together to stream is a bit difficult most of the time.

However, I do plan on making it happen.

Save the Date for November 5th

Thanks to a perfect storm of crap last year, we didn’t stream during the Extra Life event in November. That was the first time I didn’t at least stream something over the past eight years.

This time, it’s set in stone. I’m going to make the 24 hours of gaming happen come hell or high water.

Perhaps by then, we’ll be playing from the new office and warehouse. Though, I have a long way to go before I can afford that setup.

How Easy Is it to Make 2022 Better than 2021 for Extra Life?

For ColoradoPlays, it won’t take much to surpass our donation records. We often don’t have a lot of money at our disposal, and many people who visit the website use ad blockers.

This means most of the money generated last year came from AdSense income, which isn’t a whole hell of a lot in the grand scheme of things.

With the plans I have set up for this year, and the growth of the blog, I have no doubt that we’ll ultimately shatter some of those older records. For example, we only generated just over $20 in ad revenue for Extra Life last year.

That shouldn’t be too difficult to achieve.

If we’re lucky, we can get the YouTube channel monetized at some point in the near future. Though, we’re really nowhere near doing that just yet.

Overall, I am completely confident it will be exceptionally easy to bring in more donations this year than ever before.

Why Do We Care So Much About Extra Life?

Through Extra Life, we support Children’s Hospital located here in Denver. When my daughter was much younger, we had to take an emergency room trip due to an acute asthma attack.

Actually, we had to take an emergency flight across Colorado because the hospital in Sterling wasn’t set up for her kind of needs.

It’s one of the most stressful of situations, when you’re a parent are your baby’s lips are turning Pepsi Can blue because she’s not getting enough oxygen. You feel so incredibly helpless.

The folks at Children’s Hospital were amazing, and my little one made a full recovery. Ever since then, I’ve been a major fan of Extra Life and do what I can to support the charity.

Making Extra Life 2022 Our Best Year Yet!

Every year, ColoradoPlays has surpassed its yearly traffic numbers to the blog. It’s my goal to continue that trend while putting more effort into the video content.

The more effort we put into building up the brand, the more money we can generate for Extra Life. And that’s the entire purpose of building this website in the first place.

To help the charities that are closest to our hearts.

Right now, I have no doubt in my mind that ColoradoPlays will generate more income for Extra Life than we did last year. Our numbers are still continuing to rise.

However, I would love it if we could build up the brand to really make a huge impact on the total donations we provide.

Let’s Make Extra Life 2022 Epic!

Although I have a lot going on at the moment, I still have high hopes to do more for Extra Life than I have in the past. And as long as I can stay the course and stick with my daily production schedule, I should be able to accomplish a lot more this year.

We have a long way to go, but I plan on making the most of it. Here’s to 2022 being awesome and helping our favorite charity, Extra Life!
