Review: Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless Headset

Good sound quality is imperative if you truly want to get the most out of any game. Sound effects, music and even voice acting are easily accentuated by a good pair of speakers. And I can say I am truly impressed with the quality of the Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless Headset.
There’s something to be said about immersive sound effects. For instance, nothing gave me goosebumps more than hearing a siege tank unload back in the days of Starcraft. Of course I kind of geeked out and rigged up an amplified 15″ subwoofer to the computer.
Still, headset quality is vastly important to me as well as most gamers. And since this is a wireless unit, I was doubly impressed.

What Is the Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless Headset?
For those who relish good sound quality, the Corsair Void Pro is perhaps one of the better units you can pick up for under $100. The sound quality is amazing, it’s comfortable to wear and super easy to install…barely an inconvenience.
This unit uses a USB dongle at 2.4Ghz for wireless connection. Ideally, that gives you a 40ft range. However, keep in mind there are a lot of things that can disrupt wireless signals.
Personally, I prefer Bluetooth, but the Corsair Void Pro works exceptionally well for what I use it for. After all, I really don’t need to use it while walking around the house.
Why Would You Want the Corsair Void Pro?
The market is flooded with wireless headsets of all kinds varying in price. I’m sure that more expensive units probably have superior quality, but the Corsair delivers an impressive array of functionality for what you spend.
Another aspect of this device that I find valuable is the quality of the microphone. Although it’s not as good as fine-tuning a Blue Snowball, the mic is much better than the old Afterglow headset I was using.
It delivers a clear and crisp voice to apps like Discord, which is where I tested it. The mic works well cutting out some of the background-sound-issues I had in the past.
For instance, no one can hear the fan blowing on the microphone of the Corsair. That was one of the biggest problems with the Afterglow and the Blue Snowball. The end result is sitting in a hot office trying to stream on Twitch.
I don’t see that as a problem in the future.
The Corsair Void Pro eliminated the sound of air hitting the mic. Of course, I also put on the pop filter which came with the product. However, the quality of voice chat is still superior to my other cheaper headsets.
How Well Does the Corsair Void Pro Work?
Like I said above, the sound quality is superb compared to many other units. Out of the several we tried at Best Buy, the Corsair sounded far better than the alternatives.
In fact, I am amazed by how many other sounds that are in the background of Subnautica while playing.
The volume control on the headset actually controls the volume on Windows 10. In reality, this is more than enough power. The volume is loud even though my control on Winamp is set fairly low for music.
As an added bonus, you can control the equalizer for the headset through the Corsair Utility Engine. This lets you fine-tune the audio to fit your needs perfectly.
I had to reduce the input on Discord when first using the new headset. This is because the Afterglow headset’s mic is super sensitive, which causes problems as the mic would pick up every single sound in the house.
I simply don’t have that problem with the Void.
Where Can You Find It?
I picked up the Corsair Void Pro RGB Wireless Headset from Best Buy…one of the few times I ever actually bought something from that store. It’s not that I have anything against Best Buy in general. It’s just usually more expensive than other places I shop.
However, no one else in the area had the Corsair Void Pro…which is what I wanted to buy myself for my birthday.
I paid $89 and also paid for the $10 insurance plan. Something I usually don’t do either, but my Spidey sense was tingling when she asked if I wanted it.
Still, I believe the overall quality of the Corsair Void Pro is worth the $100 I paid.[template id=”505″]
Most Notable Features of the Corsair Void Pro
So aside from excellent quality sound and mic support, this device has quite a few features I find valuable. Of course, you might have a different opinion. All I can really do is tell you how this headset works for me.
Corsair Utility Engine – CUE
The Corsair Utility Engine, or CUE, is software running in the background that gives you control over various Corsair devices. So if you had any of the illuminated units from Corsair, you may control each of them from the task bar of Windows.
After seeing the different devices I can control from CUE, I think I want to buy the rest of them.
Custom Side Lighting
Unlike other headsets, this one has the feature of controlling the color that illuminates from the sides. It precise down to the exact RGB numbers you enter for specific colors.
By default, the headset spans the spectrum of the rainbow. But when you install the CUE software, you can set it to virtually any RGB color you see.
Personally, I set mine to a deep plum purple, the color of my old 1990 Dodge Daytona. I have a lot of good memories about that car.
Equalizer Control
The CUE software gives you the ability to control how exactly the Corsair sounds. Personally, I kept it set at default levels. But I can tell you it makes an incredible difference in sound quality.
You can use one of the presets available, or you can create your own according to what you want to hear. Perhaps you like the sound a certain way in a specific game while streaming on Twitch. Maybe you want music to have more bass.
It’s all up to you with absolute control.
Very Comfortable to Wear
One of the biggest selling points for me was the Corsair Void Pro’s comfort. The cushion wraps around my ears, not on them. Which means I don’t feel much of anything touching my ears while wearing the headset itself.
This also provides the noise cancelling feature as it makes it ultra-difficult to hear anything outside of the headset.
Easy to Install
As soon as I plugged the USB dongle into my computer, Windows installed and activated the headset. I was ready to go in literally seconds.
Remember when everything had drivers to install?

Unfortunately, the Corsair Void Pro doesn’t come with the CUE software. I had to download it separately from Corsair’s website. Which really didn’t bother me much. The unit worked exceptionally well right out of the box.
I only downloaded the CUE software for this review…and I’m glad I did.
USB Fits Well
With the Afterglow wireless dongle, I had to sacrifice one of my USB ports because the transmitter was simply too large. The USB dongle for the Corsair Void Pro fits perfectly among my other devices and cables.
Good Built-in Microphone
For a wireless headset, the mic on the Corsair Void Pro works exceptionally well. However, it lacks a bit of the studio quality I get from the Blue Snowball after adjusting settings in OBS.
I still look forward to trying the mic out on Twitch soon, but I’m on the fence whether I’ll replace the Snowball with the Void during live game play.
Then again, this entire unit works exceptionally well if you’re looking to start streaming but don’t have the money for a separate microphone.
The Bottom Line…
At first, I was somewhat worried about buyer’s remorse. I often feel bad when buying something I don’t necessarily need. However, I can say that the Corsair Void Pro was worth the money I put into it.
Between the quality of the product and the fun features available in the CUE software, it’s one of the few times I spent $100 without stressing out.
I’m now eager to try out the keyboard and mouse sets from Corsair.[template id=”543″]
