Steam Replay 2025: What Games Do I Play Most?
The Steam Replay for 2025 is out, and it’s interesting to see what games I focus on throughout the week. Although I don’t get to play as much as I’d like, the stats are kind of fun to go over.
As someone who geeks out about the numbers, I was happy to see that Steam puts out information I’ve always been curious about. Of course, I’ve never really looked for the numbers before, as I’ve been too busy doing other things.
Nonetheless, a breakdown of my favorites is interesting to me.
What is Steam Replay 2025?
Essentially, Steam Replay is a data-based breakdown of the games you played throughout the entire year. It shows everything from the time spent playing certain titles to genres and achievements.
To add a bit of gamification to the games, Steam will also show how you compare to the median users in certain categories, such as unlocking achievements. I suppose it’s a good way of creating FOMO and inspiring more sales of games throughout the year.
For us, we’re going to use the data for future content for both the blog and YouTube channel. For example, I can see that I really should focus on more reviews of the latest releases. But that is kind of obvious.
What the Numbers Show for Steam Replay 2025
Because I thought it would be fun, let’s break down the reports from Steam Replay and see how 2025 progressed from my account. These are the kinds of things you’ll find in your own report on Steam.
Games, Achievements, and Streaks

According to the report, I played 18 games throughout the year, adding four to my library. It’s been a bit of a hectic year, and I really didn’t have a lot of money to spend on new games.
I unlocked 32 achievements across eight games, nine of which were rare. I usually don’t focus on achievements in games. For the most part, I just play and then marvel when I unlock something. I’m not the achievement hunter that some folks are on Steam.
My longest streak for playing games was 25 days throughout the middle of July and August. I’m assuming this is anytime I load up a game on any given day. The two games I played were Raft and Defense Zone 3 during the summer.
Top 3 Games Played

As you can see, Valheim was one of my most favorite games to play in 2025. It more than doubled the next in line, which was Neverwinter Nights. A large portion of the 36% of play time was probably spent working on the hardcore Velheim survival videos I made on YouTube.
Also, I put quite a bit of time into Neverwinter Nights, as I am using it to make a module that takes place in between the books I’m writing. I thought it would be a fun addition to any readers who love playing games, especially since I am tying plots into the storyline of The Witcham Chronicles.
Then, I am a fan of Fallout 4. In 2025, I decided to run the game on survival difficulty with all of the DLCs. I love base building, and though the mechanics of crafting in Fallout 4 are a little squiffy at times, I thoroughly enjoy the game.
How I Compare to the Steam Community

Next, we have how my account compares to everyone on Steam. And I thought I would be under the general average on the platform. I’m not the gamer I used to be, and don’t get to play games as often today.
I unlocked 32 achievements, while the median on Steam only had 11 unlocked. That was much lower than I had anticipated, as I thought there were a lot more achievement hunters out there.
I played 18 games while the median rested at four. That’s also much lower than I thought it would be, especially since so many great games came out on Steam recently.
My longest streak was 25 days, while the median played six.
New, Recent, and Classic Games Played

The majority of the games I played in 2025 were recent releases, meaning one to seven years old. That sounds about right, considering the games I’ve bought over the past seven years. Mostly, this was all attributed to Valheim, Subnautica, and Raft.
Users only spent 44% of play time on Steam Replay for recent games. That is slightly higher than the 40% of playtime on classic titles (eight years and older). What surprises me is that only 14% of play time was spent by the median Steam user playing new releases.
Of course, there are a lot of reasons why a game would not get a lot of attention, even on Steam.
Steam Replay Genre of Games Played in 2025

One of the more interesting stats from Steam Replay 2025 is the genres of games I play. I knew that open-world survival craft would be a top choice, but then I had post-apocalyptic and dark fantasy close by.
It’s not really surprising that those three would be my top, given the time spent playing Fallout 4, Neverwinter Nights, and Valheim. In reality, those are my three favorite genres. In fact, I’m a Dark Fantasy author.
I wonder what the Steam Replay will look like for 2026 if I stick to beating Subnautica and a few other games on my list.
Top 5 Games Played per Month

Next on the list from the report are the top five games played, how many sessions were recorded, and in what month I played them. Valheim was obviously the top game, but there was a period of six months that I didn’t load it up.
During my time away from Valheim, I played more Neverwinter Nights, Raft, Defense Zone 3, and Fallout 4. But only at two or three-month intervals.
Playtime Per Month

Steam Replay for 2025 also has a breakdown of the games you played in each month. As you can see, there are times when I get a wild hair regarding specific games. I’ll play them almost exclusively until my mind changes to play something else.
In September, I didn’t play much of anything. That’s when I started school and was working through a lot of personal things. But then I started playing a few games again, partially as therapy. Yes, I was told that I need to squirrel away at least 30 minutes per day just for myself.
Each Month in Timeline and Grid View

Lastly, you can check out the timeline views for the games you played each month or the grid view of games as a whole. All I can say is that my tastes are quite eclectic.
I would like to point out that I mostly play Defense Zone 3 and Bejeweled 3 while watching something on the other monitor. They are mostly just time-wasters and super casual. Everything else has my full and undivided attention.
After looking at how the time was spread throughout the year, there were a lot of games that I truly miss playing and almost forgot about. For instance, I don’t see Elden Ring, and I played a lot of that in 2024. Perhaps one of my goals in 2026 will be to beat every game I own on Steam. It would be interesting to see the spread in the next Steam Replay.
Then again, I would like to add more new releases while posting reviews about them. Regardless, 2026 is going to be a fun year.
What About Steam Replay 2024?
As far as I can tell, Steam started doing the Replay report in 2024. I can’t find a page for anything related to 2023 or earlier. But if there is one, feel free to let me know in the comments section.
Anyway, if you’re curious about the Steam Replay for 2024, there is a button right after the played games in 2025. It’ll be at the top middle of the page.

Or, perhaps they only run the report for the current and prior year for comparisons. Either way, I find it fun and interesting to see how my tastes and habits change year-over-year.

Guess I’ll Have to Log In More Hours!
Unfortunately, I have a lot on my plate during any given week. I don’t have a lot of time to toss into gaming as I did when I was in my 20s. It’s not that I’m getting older; it’s the fact that I am running three blogs, three YouTube channels, writing books, going to college, and working as a freelance writer. Plus, I am a home health care provider on the side.
Nonetheless, it’s in my best interest to set aside more time for gaming. Not only because I’d love to write more content for the games I play, but it’s quite therapeutic to sit and relax with a great title for about an hour.
The dork in me loves that Steam added the Replay report for 2025. I love numbers and am always interested in seeing the stats of how I play throughout the year. I just need to make sure I get a bit more time in 2026 to play some of my favorites while looking for new ones.
